ചെറുപ്പക്കാരുടെ സ്വപ്നങ്ങളും ആശങ്കകളും മാനസികവ്യാപാരങ്ങളും വിഷയമാക്കുന്ന ശ്യാമപ്രസാദിന്റെ ഋതു പുതുമുഖങ്ങളുടെ ആഘോഷമാണ്; എഴുത്തുകാരന് ജോഷ്വാ ന്യൂട്ടണ് മുതല് അഭിനേതാക്കള് വരെ ഒരുപാട് പുതുമുഖങ്ങള്. അതുകൊണ്ടായിരിക്കണം, refreshing ആയ സിനിമയുടെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള് ഇതിന് ആര്ജിക്കാന് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുമുണ്ട്. ശരത് (നിഷാന്), വര്ഷ (റിമ കല്ലിങ്കല്), സണ്ണി (അസിഫ് അലി) എന്നിവരാണ് പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങള്. മൂവരും കുട്ടിക്കാലം മുതല് ഒന്നിച്ചു കളിച്ചു വളര്ന്നവര്; ഒന്നിച്ച് പഠിച്ചവര്. അസൂയാവഹമായ ഒരു ആത്മബന്ധവും അവര് തമ്മിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മുതിര്ന്നപ്പോള് മൂവരും ഐ ടി മേഖലയില് ജോലി സ്വീകരിച്ചു. വര്ഷങ്ങളുടെ ഇടവേളയ്ക്കു ശേഷം മൂവരും ഒരേ കമ്പനിയില് ജോലിക്കെത്തുന്നു. പക്ഷേ, അപ്പോഴേക്കും പഴയ സൌഹൃദത്തിനുമപ്പുറം അവര് ഒരുപാട് സഞ്ചരിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; ഇഷ്ടങ്ങളിലും സ്വപ്നങ്ങളിലും താത്പര്യങ്ങളിലുമെല്ലാം.

ചെറുപ്പക്കാരുടെ കഥകളുമായി വന്ന മലയാളസിനിമകളൊന്നും കാണിക്കാത്ത ഒരു യുവലോകമാണ് ഋതു അനാവരണം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച നിഷാന്, അസിഫ് അലി, റിമ കല്ലിങ്കല് എന്നിവരുടെ കാസ്റ്റിങ്ങും അവരുടെ പ്രകടനവും പ്രത്യേക പരാമര്ശം അര്ഹിക്കുന്നു. മൂവരും മലയാളസിനിമയുടെ വാഗ്ദാനങ്ങളാണെന്നു പറയാം. ശരത്തിന്റെ അച്ഛന്റെ വേഷത്തില് വന്ന പത്രപ്രവര്ത്തകന് കെ ഗോവിന്ദന്കുട്ടിയും സഹോദരനായ ചലച്ചിത്രസംവിധായകന് എം ജി ശശിയും തങ്ങളുടെ വേഷം നന്നായി ചെയ്തു. ഷാംദത്തിന്റെ ക്യാമറ സുന്ദരമായ ദൃശ്യങ്ങള് കാട്ടിത്തരുന്നുണ്ട്. രാഹുല് രാജിന്റെ ഗാനങ്ങള്, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് പുലരുമോ രാവ്, മനസ്സില് നില്ക്കുന്നതാണ്.
MINUSES
നമ്മുടെ ആര്ട്ട് സിനിമകളുടെ സ്ഥിരം ചേരുവകളായ ചില ക്ലീഷെയ്കള് ഒഴിവാക്കാന് ശ്യാമപ്രസാദിനു ധൈര്യം വന്നിട്ടില്ല. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന്, യാഥാസ്ഥിതിക ചിന്തകളും പുതുകാലത്തിന്റെ മാറ്റങ്ങളും തമ്മിലുള്ള ഏറ്റുമുട്ടല്. സിനിമ സീരിയസാകണമെങ്കില് ഇതൊക്കെ വേണമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം കരുതിയിട്ടുണ്ടാവും. ഐ ടി പദ്ധതിക്കായി സ്ഥലം പോയതോടെ ജീവിക്കാന് വിഷമിക്കുന്ന സിദ്ധാര്ഥ് ശിവയുടെ കഥാപാത്രം പലപ്പോഴും ഒരു വച്ചുകെട്ടായി മുഴച്ചു നില്ക്കുന്നുമുണ്ട്. അതുപോലെ, വര്ഷ മെഡിക്കല് സ്റ്റോറില് പോയി കോണ്ടം ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നതുപോലുള്ള ചില വില കുറഞ്ഞ സീനുകള് തീര്ത്തും അനാവശ്യമായി തോന്നി. 20 മിനിറ്റെങ്കിലും വെട്ടിച്ചുരുക്കിയിരുന്നെങ്കില് പലയിടത്തുമുള്ള ഇഴച്ചില് ഒഴിവാകുകയും കൂടുതല് മനോഹരമാവുകയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു ഈ ചിത്രം.

സ്ഥിരം പാതകള് വിട്ടുനടക്കാന് മലയാളസിനിമക്കാര് മടിക്കുകയും പേടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഇക്കാലത്ത് വ്യത്യസ്തമായ വഴിയേ പോകാന് ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന സിനിമ.

ഋതു ഏറെ പ്രതീക്ഷയോടെയാണ് കാണാന് പോയത്. പക്ഷെ…. തികച്ചും പ്രതിലോമകരമായ ആശയങ്ങള് നിറച്ച ഒരു സിനിമയാണിത്. ഋതുക്കള് മാറുന്നു, നമ്മളോ എന്ന പരസ്യവാചകം ശ്യാമപ്രസാദിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില് വളരെ പ്രസക്തമാണെന്നുതോന്നിപ്പോയി. പ്രമേയപരമായി അദ്ദേഹം കാലത്തിനൊത്ത് ഒട്ടും മുന്നോട്ടുപോയിട്ടില്ല. ഒരേ കടലുമായി നോക്കുമ്പോള് ഏറെ പിന്നോട്ടാണ് സഞ്ചാരം. ഇത് യൂത്തിന്റെ സിനിമയാകാം. പക്ഷെ, യൂത്തിനുവേണ്ടിയുള്ള സിനിമയല്ല… എതിര്പ്പ് പ്രമേയത്തിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില് മാത്രമാണ്, ട്രീറ്റ്മെന്റിന്റെ കാര്യത്തിലല്ല.

മലയാള സിനിമയില് ഇന്ന് പടച്ചുവിടുന്ന സിനിമകളുമായി താരതമ്യം ചെയ്യുന്പോള് ഋതു മികച്ചു നില്കുന്ന ഒരു ചിത്രം.
Rithu is a poetic and at the same time a realistic take on the lifes of three I.T. professionals of the present generation. It’s all about love,friendship and betrayal, At the same time shyaam has tried his best to avoid cliches, candyfloss romance and other gimmicks which are usually associated which films belonging to this genre.
The good thing about Rithu is that unlike most of the recent malayalam movies (which have come out claiming to be about I.T. professionals and ultimately ending up as the usual song-n-dance routine stuff..) is different,realistic and most importantly has it’s heart in the right place. All the three new comers who play the protagonists have given their heart and soul to their characters and we are seldom reminded that this is their first movie. But the same cannot be said about the screenplay, written by Joshua Newton which is incidentally the biggest drawback of the film.The script is highly inconsistent at times and i wish Joshua had given a bit more care in developing the character of Varsha. Nothing much really happens in the first half of the movie which moves in a sluggish manner which a lot of time being wasted showing the party life of the protagonists.
The dialogues are most of the time artificial and ends up being un intentionally funny at places. The scenes at sharath’s ancestral home and his conversation with his mother are also executed poorly and gives a sense of watching a stage play with the characters on screen delivering long monologues and achadi malayalam.
But all these flaws apart, Rithu is undoubtedly a well made film and is definitely one of the most technically brilliant films ever made in malayalam. It’s neither preachy nor overtly melodramatic.The cinematography by shyam dutt is top class. Especially, the flash back scenes of sunny, varsha and sharath shot by the side of a lake is a pure eye candy to watch.The songs by Rahul Raaj are hummable and at the same time suits the mood of the film. Editing could have been a bit more crisp, but that is excusable. On the whole hats off to shyaama prasad and his team for trying something daringly different.

ഋതു ഞാന് കഴിഞ്ഞ saturday കുന്നംകുളം ബൈജു തിയേറ്ററില് കാണാന് പോയി. ഫസ്റ്റ് ഷോ at 6:30. എന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാര് മൂന്നു പേര് കൂടിയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു . ഞങ്ങള് നാല് പേര്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി മാത്രമാണ് അന്ന് ആ സിനിമ കളിച്ചത്. Thanks to the theatre management for this. I , we liked the movie very much and I feel this is one of the best movies released this year. Don’t understatnd why people are avoiding these different movies
A good movie. A need of the hour for the ailing malayalam movie industry. Shyamaprasad need to give up cliches and certain vestiges of the art movies. A movie can be intelligent, block buster and evergreen if the treatment is right. That is what K.G.George, Padmarajan and Bharathan had given us. But anyway a good movie, above all we now have three talented youngsters in our malayalam movie. Hope our directors come up with some mint fresh ideas than pandering to the interest of the so called superstar fan tribes. I watched this movie from Kairali theatre @ TVM there were some hooligans deliberately trying to make nuisance. Also one request to all movie goers please put your mobile in silent mode and do not use it inside the theatre.
അടുത്ത കാലത്ത് കണ്ടത്തില് വച്ച് തികച്ചും നല്ല ഒരു സിനിമ… വളരെ നന്ദി ശ്യാമപ്രസാദ്.. കിളവന്മാരുടെ ഒക്കെ മരംചുറ്റി പ്രേമം ഒക്കെ കണ്ടു മടുത്തു.. സിനിമ തനിയെ ഇരുന്നു പോയി കാണാന് നല്ല ഒരു മൂഡ് ഉണ്ട്.. ഫിലിം കഴിഞ്ഞു കായല് തീരത്ത് പോയി തനിയെ ഇരിക്കാന് തോന്നി….
അടിമുടി കൃത്രിമത്വം തുളുമ്പി നില്ക്കുന്ന ഒരു ചിത്രം. ശ്യാമപ്രസാദിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും മോശപ്പെട്ട ചിത്രം ഇതായിരിക്കും. തനിക്കു വഴങ്ങാത്ത ഇത്തരം വിഷയങ്ങള് ശ്യാം എന്തിനു ചെയ്തു എന്ന് തോന്നി പോയി. കടയില് പോയി ഗര്ഭനിരോധന ഉറകള് ചോദിച്ചാല് അത് ആധുനികത ആണെന്ന് ചിന്തിച്ച ശ്യാമിനെ പുരോഗമന ചിന്താഗതി അപലപനീയം തന്നെ, അത് പോലെ അമേരിക്കയില് പോകുന്ന സുഹൃത്തിനു സമ്മാനമായി മറ്റു സുഹൃത്തുക്കള് കൊടുക്കുന്നതും ഗര്ഭനിരോധന ഉറകള് തന്നെ. അഭിനയം തങ്ങള്ക്കു വഴങ്ങില്ല എന്ന് തെളിയിച്ച മൂന്നു അഭിനേതാക്കളും ഒന്നിന്നു മോശം. മുഖത്ത് ഒരു ഭാവവും വരാത്ത റീമയും നിഷാനും ആസിഫും വാഗ്ധാങ്ങളെ അല്ല. ഐ ടി യുഗത്തില് സംഭവിക്കുന്നത് എന്നാ രീതിയില് ആകെ കൃത്രിമത്വം തോന്നുന്ന ഒരു ചിത്രം.
